Meet Dr. Michelle Fortunado-Kewin (aka: Dr. MFK)

Dr. MFK is a second-generation Filipino-American born and raised in the ancestral and Indigenous lands of the Ohlone People, also known as the San Francisco Bay Area. She lives bicoastal & spends time in California & New York with her husband/partner & their 2 dogs.

She became a social worker because of her personal struggles with mental health as a teen. She was grateful to receive support from counselors & other mental health staff, but she saw the lack of Filipino mental health providers in her area. She went into the mental health field because she “needed someone who looked like me,” someone she could talk to without needing to go in-depth about how her cultural values and expectations as a Filipino and American impacted her growing up.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California, she has over 20 years of experience working in various nonprofit & educational settings (K-12 and higher education). Dr. MFK is a published author and has presented at various conferences.

In 2017, she opened her private practice focusing on clinical supervision, consultation, training, and program development. In 2026, she is expanding her practice by offering individual therapy & energy work.
